The old grey mare she ain't what she used to be

I tell you what. The right side of my body hurts like crazy! From my shoulder, to my elbow, to the tips of my fingers down to my ankle and toes.

I don't know what I was thinking when I agreed to play softball this year. I didn't think it would be this rough. Today's practice was much harder than last weeks. That's probably b/c the field was actually sandy and not swampy like it was last week. We just did batting practice in the grass last week. This week though we practiced in the outfield and infield and then scrimmaged a little.

Towards the end of the practice, I noticed my elbow was hurting a bit. Then, after my second at bat, it hurt a little more. I think I overextended it or something. All I know is that it hurts! My shoulder really hurt last week after practice. It's been about 5 years since I've played and I was in much better shape than I'm in now. I guess I was just hoping that playing would help me get back into shape again. Let's hope I make it through the season!

As for my ankle, I sprained it about a month ago and it still hasn't quite healed all the way. Today I used not one, but two braces on it to keep it in place. There are so many holes, dips, and pits in the outfield, that I'm afraid I'll snap my ankle at some point here.

As well, my playing isn't very good either. I didn't catch one fly ball and if you know me, you know that's not like me at all! I used to be really good at judging fly balls and being able to catch them. Even the impossible ones! Then, in the infield, it was as if I'd never played before. I couldn't stop a grounder to save my life! I think out of the 10 or so I got, I stopped possibly 2 or 3. That stinks in my book!

When I got home, I told me parents how "well" I played and my dad understood what I felt. My mom, though, just had to chime in that I'm not as young as I used to be. Gee thanks. I know I'm not as young as I used to be, but I should still be able to play, dangnabbit! Today is the first day in a while that I feel WAY older than 32. I'm talking feeling like I'm almost 62!

With all this being said, my new plan of attack is to hit the gym and strengthen whatever muscles I can and hopefully prevent any further injuries. Either that, or I'll have to learn to play left-handed and mightily quick too!

So, for now, I'm going to rekindle the once hot & cold relationship between myself and BenGay.

Lucky me

I'm one of those people who wants to win the lottery, yet I always fail due to one vital, missing step....buying the ticket! However, something in me the other day said "Buy a lottery ticket...NOW!"

So, I stopped at the first place that sold lottery tickets and purchased one. Now, I know the odds of me winning have immensely increased just by this little action. Who would have thought that buying a ticket would do so much?!

Now I'm one of the lucky ones! Yes, that's right! I won the lottery!!!! I can't wait for all the money hungry beggars to be at my door with their hand out. Woo hoo!

Don't get me wrong! I do plan on doing some good with my winnings though. I will donate some of it to worthy charities and of course, save a good portion of it for a rainy day. Also, it's great to know that I won't have to worry about my student loans anymore. That's a gianormous load off my mind! I'm sure most of you can sympathize with me there.

Now before you think too highly of me, I must tell you that I do plan on splurging a little on myself. Let me know what you think of what I plan on buying.
