Trying to be like Pete Rose isn't all that it's cracked up to be.
Let me explain...
It's Tuesday evening when I find out that my dad hasn't been feeling well all day, so I offer to go to the store and get some things for him. I also need to pick up some things to make a cheesecake for my work's Christmas party Friday.
I get to the store, walk in, and grab a basket. I start walking through the store and I feel my left foot start to twist underneath me. I stumble forward a few steps and the next thing I know I'm splayed out on the floor. Nice! I quickly get up and the lady behind me asks if I'm ok and after I tell her I am she says very dryly, "Well I wasn't about to run you over with my cart." Another woman comes to me and asks if I'm ok a little more sweetly and I tell her that I'm fine.
So, I start hobbling through the store gathering the items I need and make it out the store. (Well I paid for the items first, but hopefully you already knew that.) I get home and my ankle is hurting quite a bit. It swelled almost instantaneously. I got my ankle brace from my softball bag and slipped it on, propped it up and iced the crap out of it. The next morning, I wake up around 4am and turn over. I feel my neck spasm. Now I have shooting pains going from the right side of my neck to my shoulder and down my arm.
Today, my shoulder is somewhat better, but my ankle swelled more. Guess that means I get to take a trip to the local statcare facility.
I go to the statcare facility and have a little X-ray on my ankle. Next thing I know, I'm having an air cast slapped on my ankle and crutches thrusted under my pits.
Apparently, I have a chip somewhere in my ankle and need to treat it like a "really bad sprain." Therefore, the cast goes on when I need to walk and I use the crutches to assist me in walking. My question is, though, if I have such a hard time walking on my own two feet, how the heck do they expect me to walk with one regular foot and 2 rubber feet?!
Should be interesting!
I was offered Vicodin for my pain, but since I really am not having much pain, I declined. Perhaps I shouldn't have done that so hastily since I could have sold them on the street for a nice price! (Although, I really don't know how to go about selling them on the street in the first place.)
The only other advice I was given was continue icing my ankle and putting heat on my shoulder. *sigh*
Will it ever get better?!?!?!?
